Garlinghouse Collection Retro Contemporary House Plan 10012 with 2,108 Sq Ft, 3 Bedrooms, Wraparound Deck and Basement
From the legendary Garlinghouse Collection, Retro Contemporary house plan 10012 is a timeless architectural classic that showcases the bold creativity and innovative design philosophy that helped define American residential architecture during the mid-century era. For more than 100 years, the Garlinghouse Collection has introduced homes that continue to inspire new generations of homeowners, and this distinctive Gambrel-inspired design remains every bit as functional and exciting today. Offering 2,108 square feet of living space with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and a full basement, this remarkable home is perfectly suited for lakefront property, mountain retreats, vacation homes, or full-time living surrounded by natural beauty.
The home's signature Gambrel roofline gives this design its unmistakable architectural identity while creating generous interior volume and timeless curb appeal. A massive wraparound redwood deck surrounds much of the home, extending the living space outdoors and creating the perfect setting for entertaining, outdoor dining, or simply relaxing while taking in panoramic views. Large windows throughout the home strengthen the connection between the interior and its natural surroundings, allowing every season to become part of the living experience.
Inside, the thoughtfully designed main level centers around two comfortable gathering spaces—a spacious living room and an adjoining family room—both warmed by a centrally located fireplace that creates a cozy atmosphere throughout the home. Whether hosting family gatherings, relaxing after a day outdoors, or enjoying quiet evenings by the fire, these inviting spaces make everyday living both comfortable and memorable.
The kitchen provides generous counter space and an efficient layout that flows naturally into the dining area, allowing meal preparation and entertaining to remain connected. Large windows and direct deck access fill the home with natural light while creating seamless indoor-outdoor living that has become one of the hallmarks of this timeless design.
The private owner's suite is conveniently located on the main level, offering a peaceful retreat with easy access to the home's primary living areas. An additional bedroom on the main floor provides comfortable accommodations for family members or guests, while the third bedroom on the lower level creates exceptional flexibility for visitors, extended family, or a private home office.
One of the home's most distinctive architectural features is the spiral staircase connecting the upper and lower deck areas. This striking design element not only adds visual character but also enhances accessibility between outdoor living spaces while reinforcing the home's unique contemporary personality.
The lower level dramatically expands the home's versatility with over 1,200 square feet of additional basement space. A large storage area designed to accommodate boats, recreational vehicles, or workshop space makes this home especially attractive for lakefront or vacation properties, while the remaining unfinished area provides abundant opportunities for future expansion, recreation, hobbies, or storage.
As one of the enduring designs in the Garlinghouse Collection, house plan 10012 represents the innovative spirit that helped shape modern American residential architecture. These homes continue to resonate with homeowners because bold design, functional floor plans, and exceptional livability never become outdated. More than simply a retro home, this is a timeless Garlinghouse classic that remains as relevant and desirable today as when it first captured the imagination of American families decades ago.
